Berks County - Pennsylvania

Berks County is a county which is located in the state of Pennsylvania, United States of America. Reading is its county seat and it is part of the Reading and it is also considered as a part of the Philadelphia combined statistical area.

There are two in Berks County.
1) Nolde Forest Environmental Education Center, it located on the south of Reading.French.
2) Creek State Park. Before, it was known as Recreational Demonstration Area.

Swedes were the first European settlers in Pennsylvania in 1638. These settlers traded with Indians and lived along the Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers. To his Quaker friends William Penn was interested in giving the Swedes already cultivated lands along the Schuylkill. William Penn had entered the scene in 1681. As an enticement to move he offered them free land far to the northwest. Andrew Rudman, who was inspired by Penn accepted 10,500 acres from Penn and led a group of his countrymen. This is on the north of the Manatawny Creek. As they maintained amiable relations with the Indians the first township was called Amity.


The total area of the county is 2,242 square kilometers of it 2,224 square kilometers of land and 18 kilometers of water. An area in the northeast is drained by the Lehigh River and rest of the county is drained by the Schuylkill River.

248,949 are registered voters list in Berks County as January 2010. Cities, Boroughs, Townships and most of the two cases, towns are four types of incorporated municipalities under Pennsylvania law. Democrats have become more competitive in Berks in recent years. The Reading Public Museum is an art, science, and history museum. White Horse Inn, George Douglass Mansion, Bridge keeper's House, and the Mouns Jones House are four historic structures in The Old Morlatton Village. These are constructed in 1716.

Brad Hodge - Australian Cricketer

Bradley John Hodge who is known as Brad Hodge is an Australian and Victorian cricketer who bats in the middle order. He was born in Sandringham suburb of Melbourne city, Victoria, Australia. His date of birth is 29 December 1974. Brad is also a part time right arm off spin bowler.

For the fact that he and his brother shared a bunkbed at the time of his debut, Brad was nicknamed as Bunkie by Dean Jones. At the age of 19-years Brad debuted for the Victorian Bushrangers. Durham, Lancashire and Leicestershire are some County Cricket teams with whom Brad has played. His highest first class score is 302 not out. In June 2003 in a Twenty20 match, although it appeared that he had stepped over the boundary rope he claimed a catch during his time at Leicestershire he was accused of cheating by then Derbyshire captain, and now Lancashire team mate, Dominic Cork. Hodge denied the accusation. Though he was an Australia's premier domestic batsmen he was concentrating on the selection because of 2000 – 2001 seasons in which Brad scored many runs for Victoria. This made his consistency came together. Playing against Queensland for Victoria on 21 November 2007 Hodge made his highest Pura Cup score of 286 not out.

The only fourth wicketless day's play in the history of the competition, Brad and Nick Jewell had batted undefeated for the entire third day of the game. During the match against Queensland on 7 March 2009 at the MCG, he scored 261 and he also became the 6th batsman to pass 10,000 Sheffield Shield runs.  On January 21, 2006 at North Sydney Brad scored 106 off 54 deliveries for Victoria against New South Wales and he is the only batsman to score a century in Australian domestic Twenty20. To focus on the one day and Twenty20 versions of the game Brad announced his retirement from first class cricket in December 2009.

Alex Karras - Fotball Player, Professional Wrestler, and Actor

The nick name of Alex Karras is "The Mad Duck". His full name is Alexander George "Alex" Karras and he is a former football player, professional wrestler, and actor.

He was born on July 15, 1935 in Gary in the state of Indiana, Unites States. From 1958-1962 and 1964-1970 he is best known for playing with the Detroit Lions. As the titular character's adoptive father he starred on the ABC sitcom Webster, alongside real-life wife Susan Clark.



Dr. George Karras, a Greek immigrant who graduated from the University of Chicago and got his medical degree in Canada is Alex father. There George Karras, Alex father met and married a Canadian woman who is Alex mother. His father opened a medical practice in Gary, Indiana as he was a doctor. Alex was 13 years old when he lost his father. In a parking lot near his home by that time Alex Karras had learned to play football. At Gary Emerson High School he was blossomed into a four-time Indiana all-state selection.

Lou who was a future member of the Redskins and Ted who later played with the Bears and Lions are his elder brothers played at Purdue. Later Ted transformed to Indiana. "Indiana had the inside track" said by Alex because of this. But shortly, several coaches from the University of Iowa took Alex up to Spencer, Iowa as soon as he graduated high school. These coaches persuaded him to sign with the Hawkeyes. To keep him away from rival recruiters the coaches had taken Alex to secluded Spencer.

With his coach, Forest Evashevski, with classwork, and homesickness Alex struggled his first few years at Iowa. Alex in 1991 selected to the College Football Hall of Fame and in 1977 to the Iowa Sports Hall of Fame. To Bob Lombardi Alex also worked briefly as a football coach in 2007 and 2008 for SIL as an assistant coach.
